\nBut here is my question – where did Todd get the sample from?
\nLet’s face it – he was not known for creating his own original sounds, he was known (and sometimes hated) for sampling other people’s music. In the late 80s, Chicago house music was mostly people creating their own samples, even if it was as basic as yelling ‘JACK!’ into a microphone. Todd Terry took that New York, hip-hop approach to music and sampled other people’s music – including a lot of Chicago house music and Detroit techno. And that pissed off a lot of the people he sampled from.
\nSo I want to know where he got that “car-horn” – as I call it – sample from. Another record? Some random pack on some sampler? Anybody know?<\/p>\n
On another side note – there was a cool import remix of A Day In The Life (I thought it was called A Night In London, but Discogs tells me it’s A Day In London).
\nI bought it, and the guy I was working for at the time wanted it. He said “Give me your copy and just buy another one tomorrow.” So I did. But it was an import and they were out of it the next day. Paul Drake, I want my copy back!<\/p>\n
